What is EMT-Paramedic Technology?
The EMT-Paramedic Technology Program was created at East Central Community College in response to the growing demand for paramedics throughout the state. Paramedics are health care professionals capable of utilizing advanced life support skills in the pre-hospital setting. They are caring professionals who provide a high standard of medical care to the patient prior to arriving to a hospital. Paramedics possess an extensive knowledge of body systems in order to effectively treat and sustain life of the patient in the pre-hospital environment.
A career as a paramedic is an exciting, fast paced adventure with constant challenges, demands, and rewards. The demand for Paramedics throughout the state will rapidly increase over the next several years due to the growing need for pre-hospital advanced life support. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to apply for a seat in the National Registry's Exam as an EMT-Paramedic, which is a requirement for certification in the state of Mississippi as EMT-Paramedic.
