Career-Technical Philosophy
The Career-Technical Division of East Central Community College seeks to help fulfill the needs of the individuals, groups, industries, and businesses from the five-county district served by the college. Its major aim is to improve the socioeconomic condition of the people in this district.
The Career-Technical Division conceives its purpose of providing instruction and training in the many skills, theory, and related instruction required for the individual to successfully enter the job market. It also accepts the responsibility for training in-school youth, training and retraining of adults to meet the new job market needs, start-up training for industry, and other industrial training where the needs can be identified and programs can be developed.
The division seeks to serve, through its remedial related program, the handicapped, academically disadvantaged, and other special population groups. Special efforts are made to insure equal access to all programs regardless of race, sex, national origin, or handicap. Through its continuous effort to upgrade the quality of its program, instructional staff, and youth activities, the division provides experiences which lead to the development of the total individual. These experiences include guidance, participation and leadership in campus activities, student clubs, and organizations as well as formal instruction and skill development.
