How Does ECCC Help Special Populations?
Special Populations students can find assistance through various vocational support services. Some of the services are as follows:
- Assistance in completing admissions forms
- Assistance in completing financial aid applications
- Personal and academic counseling
- Career assessment and planning
- Tutoring
- Basic skills reinforcement
- Employment skills training
- Related studies instruction
Who is Eligible for Assistance?
Anyone interested in enrolling at East Central Community College as a Special Populations student must be able to answer 'yes' to one or more of the following questions:
- Are you a career-technical student who is enrolled in beginning or intermediate English or Algebra?
- Do you qualify for a Pell Grant?
- Do you perform poorly on standardized tests?
- Did you drop out of high school before getting a diploma?
- Do you have an identifiable disability (i.e. hearing, vision, speech, physical, emotional, or learning)?
- Are you a Vocational Rehabilitation client?
- Do you have difficulty speaking or understanding English as your first language?
- Are you enrolled in a program not traditionally associated with your gender (i.e. a female in auto mechanics or a male in cosmetology)?
