East Central Community College Phi Beta Lambda members kicked off their Free Enterprise Project on September 24. The PBL members visited a local high school and taught a lesson on free enterprise. Shelley Thoms, computer instructor at Newton County High School, allowed the PBL members to come in and teach the lesson in her desktop publishing classroom. Participants created an idea for a new business and designed an advertisement for the business. The class created “Je t’ aime,” a local Italian restaurant. The group advertisement included their specialty food, pasta and garlic cheese bread. The group was assisted by Kimberly Goodin, co-chair for the Free Enterprise Project, a sophomore of Newton. Goodin is pictured at far right with NCHS students (from left) Fanceey Smith, Kaitlin Dean, Leighanne Wright, Emily Davis and Casey Litchfield.
