Members of East Central Community College’s cheerleader squad have been selected for 2009-10, announced Shelley Thoms, who begins her first year as cheer coach. 

Female squad members include Ashley Amis and Monica Vincent, both of Decatur; Robyn Fanning, Philadelphia; Adrienne McDill, Abby McMillan and Anna Williams, all of Newton; Chelsea Jones, Enterprise; and Hannah Alley of McDonough, Ga. Liz Withers of Philadelphia was selected as an alternate.

Male squad members are Will Emmons, Lake; Richie Ferguson, Decatur; Paul Hatcher and Josh Jarriel, both of Philadelphia; Dayton Johnson and Brandon Kennedy, both of Union; and Cody Ming and Dustin Stewart, both of Louisville. Daniel Steverson of Hickory was chosen Warrior Chief mascot and alternate cheerleader.

East Central begins the 2009 football campaign by challenging Coahoma Community College Thursday, Aug. 27. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.
