Dirt work is shown being done on one of two new parking lots soon to be completed at East Central Community College in Decatur. The Newton County Board of Supervisors provided equipment and personnel for the above new parking area, located on a vacant lot west of Todd Hall. The Town of Decatur also provided assistance for the project. Another area designated for additional parking is the old physical plant location, near the Associate Degree Nursing/Childcare Building. Paving for both parking areas will be provided by the Mississippi Department of Transportation. The additional parking is needed when construction soon gets under way for the new Davis Science Building, to be built on a parking area near Cross Hall. The new parking spaces are also needed to accommodate the College’s record enrollment, reported at 2,841 students.
