‘Spirited’ ECCC Staffers Win Homecoming Display Contest

This “live” homecoming scene featuring mostly East Central Community College staff members received top honors in the annual display competition held as part of homecoming activities Oct. 3 on the Decatur campus. In front, from left, are Joe Killens, vice president of student services, shown portraying ECCC President Dr. Phil A. Sutphin after he crowns “Queen” Romonica Evans, recruiter/Tech Prep Center director; and (in back, from left) “Wall O’ Sound Band member” Chris Clark, workforce development coordinator; “Centralette” Brenda Cheatham, secretary to the vice president for student services; “Warrior fan” Keli Barrett of Decatur, ECCC freshman; and “cheerleader” Lanette Hanna and “Warrior football player” Michael Alexander, academic counselors. The spirited group represented Warrior Corps and the Student Body Association, which received the $175 first-place prize. Also receiving cash prizes were ECSTR (Surgical Technology), second place, $150; College publications (yearbook and newspaper), third, $100; and SkillsUSA and Phi Beta Lambda, fourth, $75. The homecoming display competition is coordinated though the Office of Adult and Continuing Education.
